About the Journal

Maya Medical & Health Journal (MMHJ) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the International Paramedical Institute (IPI) Maya, Uganda. The journal provides an international platform for advancing knowledge in clinical medicine, public health, nursing, and allied health sciences. We are committed to disseminating high-quality research that contributes to improved patient outcomes, healthcare systems, and population health.

Open Access Policy

All articles published in MMHJ are freely available online immediately upon publication. We publish under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are credited. Authors retain copyright of their work. No subscription or access fees apply.

Focus and Scope

MMHJ publishes peer-reviewed content across the following areas:

  • Clinical Medicine – original research, case reports, clinical trials, and reviews.

  • Public Health & Epidemiology – studies on health promotion, disease prevention, surveillance, and population health.

  • Health Systems & Policy – research addressing healthcare delivery, policy, and management.

  • Nursing & Allied Health – research on nursing practice, midwifery, physiotherapy, medical laboratory sciences, and related disciplines.

Article types accepted include original research, systematic reviews, brief reports, case studies, protocols, and commentary.

Sponsorship Disclosure

MMHJ is published by the International Paramedical Institute (IPI) Maya. The journal does not accept funding from commercial sponsors, pharmaceutical companies, or advertising. Publication costs are supported by institutional resources and/or article processing charges (APCs) where applicable.

History of the Journal

The Maya Medical & Health Journal (MMHJ) was established in 2025 as an official publication of the International Paramedical Institute (IPI) Maya. The journal was founded to provide a credible platform for health professionals, researchers, and policymakers to disseminate high-quality evidence relevant to medicine and public health in Africa and beyond.

Privacy Statement

The names, email addresses, and other personal information collected by MMHJ will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or shared with third parties. The journal complies with data protection and privacy standards in scholarly publishing.

Archiving Policy

MMHJ is preserved through participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and may also be archived in LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems to ensure long-term digital preservation and continued access to its scholarly content.
